The Giant Freshwater Stingray, Himantura chaophraya, is currently considered to be the world's largest freshwater fish – it can weigh nearly 600 kilograms (1320 lbs). Freshwater Stingray fishing counts as one of the most extreme pursuits in the world of freshwater fishing and is an experience that is certainly a dream for anyone who enjoys physically demanding fishing and who enjoys travelling to exotic destinations.

The Giant Freshwater Stingray (Himantura chaophraya) lives in Southeast Asia where VIP Fishing Trips focus on the rivers of Cambodia and Thailand. Specimens over 100 kilograms are regularly caught, and with luck you may come across a fish weighing up to 300 kilograms. A duel with a fish this size can take many hours, and never underestimate the size and power of the fish if you want to land it.

The unforgettable experience of a lifetime:

Our expedition in search of the Giant Freshwater Stingray takes us to the deepest parts of the Pakong River in Thailand, where the largest population can be found. The exact destination is not selected until shortly before arriving, and depends on weather conditions and river levels. Fishing takes place from small boats or from a spacious houseboat moored in the middle of the river. Handling these monsters is not easy, and you need to be wary of the sting in the fishes tail, up to 33 cms ( 13 inches) long. A wound from this could be fatal. However, fighting and landing the Stingray, in the exotic environment of the Pakong River, is an unforgettable  experience of a lifetime.

On our expeditions, you will use live or dead fish as bait to attract the Stingray. Fishing is possible during the day or at night, but for safety reasons we generally fish from dusk till dawn. However, it is up to the client to decide when he wants to fish. Unlike other tour operators we offer a unique individual program to meet your specific wishes.

We offer the best guides and a professional service:

Successful fishing depends primarily on our local guides choosing the right locations. They have practised this kind of fishing for generations and are the most skilled in Thailand. They know the habitats of large Stingrays where you are most likely to make a catch - it is only a question of how big the stingray will be, and whether you can land it. During fishing, you will be accompanied by Jakub Vagner, one of Europe’s most respected fishermen, who has worked as a fishing guide for the last thirteen years, and is a specialist in Freshwater Giants.
